Albuquerque History

Albuquerque, New Mexico is the largest city in the state and has a rich history that dates back to the early 1500s. The area was first inhabited by the Pueblo Indians, who established a number of villages in the area. In 1540, Spanish explorer Francisco Vásquez de Coronado arrived in the area and named it "Alburquerque" after the Spanish Duke of Alburquerque.
